(Howell, MI)-- The Cleary Cougars men's lacrosse team opened up conference play and made their Lake Trust Stadium 2022 debut, but would fall to the visiting Siena Heights University Saints Friday evening.
The Saints would score the game's first thirteen goals, and took a 13-0 lead into the halftime break. Zach Eakes would get on the board for the Cougars, as a successful clear attempt bounced around and found Eakes who was able to slot it home. Three more Saints goals expanded the lead to 16-1, but Cleary would score right before the end of the third quarter. Mike Smith found a cutting Danny Pudduck, who bounced the ball past the Saints goalkeeper to score, and make the score 16-2. That score would hold for the rest of the quarter, and the visitors would add six more goals in the fourth quarter to secure the 22-2 victory.
Adam Roper made 16 saves on 38 shots for the Cougars. Danny Pudduck and Zach Eakes each scored for Cleary, who drop to 0-6, 0-1 in WHAC-tion. Cleary will travel to Ann Arbor on Wednesday to take on the Concordia Cardinals. The game is slated to start at 4:00 PM.
