(Howell, MI)-- The Cleary Cougars men's lacrosse team played host to the UM-Dearborn Wolverines, but ultimately fell 22-3 in WHAC play Wednesday evening at Lake Trust Stadium.
The Wolverines would strike first, scoring the game's first three goals before Cleary would get on the board. That happened when Joe Heinzelman scored, assisted by Jose Reducindo, to cut the lead to 3-1. UM-Dearborn would score two more goals in the opening quarter to take a 5-1 lead after fifteen minutes.
The visitors would add four more goals to start the second quarter, but Cleary would get their second goal when Mike Smith slotted one home, assisted by Danny Pudduck, to make the score 9-2. Two more Wolverine goals would make the score 11-2 at the half.
The third quarter was all UM-Dearborn until Lewis Louis scored to make the score 18-3. The Wolverines would dd four final goals in the fourth quarter to secure the victory 22-3.
Adam Roper would take the loss in goal, but made 20 saves (his third consecutive game with at least 20 saves).
Cleary drops to 0-9, 0-4 in WHAC play. They will be back at Lake Trust Stadium this Friday evening to host the Aquinas College Saints in a "White Out" game. The game will also feature a Rally Towel giveaway to the first 50 people in attendance. The game is scheduled to start at 6:00 PM.
