(Howell, MI)-- The Cleary Cougars women's lacrosse team knew they had a difficult matchup coming in, as they took on the #1 ranked Lawrence Tech Blue Devils in the WHAC regular season finale Saturday afternoon at Lake Trust Stadium. The game's pregame also recognized and honored the three graduating Cougar lacrosse team members, in Mallory Tognetti, Georgia Price, and Alexandria Zimmerman.
Lawrence Tech showed why they are the number one team in the country, as they held the Cougars scoreless for the first quarter, and almost the entire second quarter, before Mallory Tognetti broke through and scored just before the halftime break. Cleary would score first in the third quarter, as Natalie Busen slotted one past the goalie to cut the deficit to 11-2. That would end the Cougars scoring plays, and the Blue Devils would finish the game without allowing another goal, while scoring ten goals themselves to take a 21-2 lead to the final horn.
Kennedy Stilson would take the loss in goal, making 14 saves and allowing 21 goals. Mallory Tognetti had 1 goal, 2 ground balls, and 2 draw dontrols for the Cougars. Cleary finishes the season 2-10, 1-8 in WHAC play.
