Women's Golf Adds Three to Next Year's Roster
(Howell, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar women's golf coach Bob Fillipps has announced the addition of three golfer's the program for the 2024-25 season.
Abigail Saco, Jessica Shay, and Brianna Swickard will make up the recruiting class. Saco and Swickard both enter Cleary as freshmen, and Shay will be a junior.
Abigail Saco is originally from Brownstown, Michigan, and attended Woodhaven High School. She was named to the All-Downriver League team four times (2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023), was named All-State four times (2020-2023), and was an MHSAA Academic Athlete four times (2020-2023). She helped the Warriors win the Downriver League twice in 2022 and 2023, and the MHSAA Regional championship in 2022 and 2023. When asked why Cleary, she said, "It felt like a home away from home. It felt like somewhere I belong. I love all the people I've met, and was especially welcomed by the members of the team." Saco will major in Business Administration while at Cleary.

Brianna Swickard joins the Cleary golf program after prepping at Plymouth High School. She was a member of the state qualifying team for the 2023-24 season, and the division champions for the 2023-24 season. Swickard said that she is "looking forward to making some new friends, and can't wait to experience life at Cleary." The fact that it is a business school, and had a smaller campus community were great selling points for her. Swickard will major in Accounting at Cleary.
The final member of the recruiting class is Jessica Shay. Shay, originally from Batavia, Ohio and attended Milford High School, will be transferring into Cleary from York College of Pennsylvania, where she was a Spartan for two seasons. While at York, Shay qualified for all events during her freshman campaign in 2022, added three top-ten finishes in her sophomore season, and qualified for the NCAA Division 3 National Championships in the spring of 2023. While in high school, Shay she was named a Cincinnati Enquirer Fall All-Star Second-Team pick, was named tp the ECC First-Team, and was a 2020 Boone County Championship winner. She helped her team to multiple district and sectional qualifiers. "Cleary (gave) me the opportunity to continue my golf career in a competitive environment, while being able to attend a school that is 100% focused on students pursuing business degrees. I can't wait to compete with my new teammates, and help Cleary win (some) tournaments." Shay will major in Business Management at Cleary.
