Women's Golf Braves Windy Conditions to Finish 5th at Lourdes Invite
(Ottawa Lake, MI)-- After the first two originally scheduled golf tournaments of the spring were cancelled or postponed, the Cleary women's golf team finally got to play in what was a sunny and windy day at The Legacy Golf Course in Ottawa Lake, Michigan.
- Lauryn Jerke led the Cougars with a 90 (+18) round to finish in a tie for 8th place
- Kelsey Elliott was entered as an individual, and shot a 91 to tie for 11th
- Autumn Blaney and Alexis Sharplin both shot 94 to tie for 20th. Sharplin was entered as an individual
- Olivia Root posted a 95 to tie for 25th
- Jana L'Esperance shot a 96 to tie for 30th
- Tying for 35th were both Olivia Rushton and Madeline Swett, who each shot 99
- Maryann Montgomery, Carman McMahon, and Emma Smith rounded out the scores with 104, 106, and 106 respectively. They were entered as individuals for the tournament
As a team, Cleary shot 378 to finish in 5th place. The Cougars were 3 strokes behind 4th place Lourdes, and 4 strokes behind 3rd place Defiance. Indiana Tech won the tournament with a 335 team score.
Cleary will be back in action next Thursday, April 20, when they play in the Adrian College Spring Tournament. The action will get underway at 1:00 PM.
