(Howell, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar softball team held Cornerstone to a doubleheader. They would fall to both games against the Golden Eagles.
In Game 1: Cornerstone would start the game off strong with 4 runs at the top of the first inning. Cleary, unable to respond at the bottom, would result in another run by the Golden Eagles in the second inning. With a quick third inning for both teams, Cornerstone would be able to score two more runs in the fourth inning. Another quick fifth inning, would solidify the game for Cornerstone with three more runs, while Cleary was only able to respond with two at the bottom of the sixth.
Olivia DeJohn and Carley Kalbfleisch would both hit a double in Game 1.
Jade Kupsky would suffer the loss in Game 1.
In Game 2: Cornerstone was able to hit the ground running again while gaining one run at the top of the first inning. With a quick second inning, Cornerstone responds with six runs at the top of the third inning. With another three runs in the fourth inning, Cleary was unable to respond. Cornerstone would add two more runs in the fifth inning to finish off Game 2.
Kami Linton would suffer the loss of Game 2.
The Cougars will be back at the Lake on Saturday as they take on Lawrence Tech in a doubleheader
