Wrestling Honors Seniors With Dual Victory Over Lourdes

(Howell, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar wrestling team recognized and honored their four seniors for this year's team, and sent them out in style, as they defeated the visiting Lourdes Gray Wolves 33-21 Saturday afternoon in Cleary Commons.
- Jose Domecq earned a forfeit victory in the 125 lb. class to earn six team points
- In 133 lb., Anthony Walker won by forfeit to earn six team points
- Nico Pasienza would suffer a technical fall defeat in 141 lb by a score of 20-3
- In 149 lb., Grayson Sonntag would earn a victory by pin in 1:27 over James Cevizian to earn six team points
- Louden Stradling would earn a forfeit victory in 157 lb. to earn six team points
- In 165 lb., Jack Gruno would win by pin in his second straight dual match, doing so in 2:44 of action, to earn six team points
- Justin Major would claim a 5-1 decision victory to earn three team points in 174 lb.
- Rodney Winston would suffer a 13-5 major decision defeat in 184 lb.
- In 197, Naziah Rice suffered a defeat by pin in 1:11
- Cleary forfeited their 285 lb./Heavyweight match
As a team, Cleary earned 33 total points to Lourdes' 21. It was the first dual victory over a WHAC opponent in program history.
The Cougars will be back in action on Sunday, January 18, when they participate in the Bruce Dickey Open at Alma College. The action gets underway at 9:00 AM.
