Three Wrestlers Place at SC4 Skipper Open

(Port Huron, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar wrestling team sent three wrestlers to the Skipper Open, hosted by St. Clair County Community College in Port Huron on Saturday, and all three earned top three finishes in their respective weight classes.
- In the 125 lb. Class: Landon Demorest went 2-2 on the day to claim a third place finish. He would win by technical fall over SC4's Stephen Hertzfeld 21-4 in his first match, lost via pin to Rochester's Daven Lockwood. In his third match, Dallas Stanton of Rochester won via pin, but Demorest would win via a pin in his fourth and final match over Emmett Kettel of Olivet.
- In the 149 lb. Class: Ryan Weaver went 3-1 on the day, and finished in 2nd place. Weave won by a technical fall over David Schulte of Olivet 22-4 in his opening match. He then pinned Aaron Evely of SC4 in 3:54, but lost to Darren Mcleod of Olivet by a technical fall 15-0 in his third match. In his fourth and final match, Weaver won by technical fall over Collin Staneart of MSU's Club team 18-0.
- In the 197 lb. Class: Connor Crepeau went 1-2, and finished in 3rd place. Crepeau lost both his opening matches, first getting pinned by Branson Goodman of Olivet, then taking a technical fall to Teveion Etchen. Crepeau would win his final match by pin over Vinny Lertola of GVSU's Club team in 3:18.
The Cougars will open up their WHAC dual schedule with a trip to Fort Wayne this Saturday to take on the nationally ranked Indiana Tech Warriors. The match is set to begin at 1:00 PM.
