Indoor Track & Field Wraps Up Season at WHAC Championships; Awards Announced
(Grand Rapids, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar men's and women's indoor track & field teams competed in the WHAC Championships on the campus of Aquinas College Friday and Saturday.
In the Men' Meet:
- Logan Rogers took 22nd in the weight throw with a distance of 10.53m. Jerome Ellis took 25th and Jacob Haley finished in 27th
- Ethan Beres ran a 16:12.16 in the 5000m to set a new school record and finished in 16th place
- In the shot put, Logan Rogers threw 10.75m, Jerome Ellis threw 10.74m, and Jacob Haley threw 9.28m, to finish in 24th, 25th, and 30th respectively
- Alex Misniakiewicz ran a 4:56.30 in the 1 mile, while Ethan Beres ran a 4:57.09 and Joel Hartleb ran a 5:00.96
- Christian Hammond finished in 23rd in the 400m with a time of 55.51
- Donovan White ran a 2:02.59 in the 800m to finish in 11th. Camden Staples finished in 16th and Brayden McKay finished in 21st
- Christian Hammond finished in 23rd in the 200m after running a 24.29
- Joel Hartleb ran a 10:10.92 in the 3000m and finished in 40th
- The 4x400m relay team of Donovan White, Camden Staples, Brayden McKay, and Christian Hammond ran a 3:42.82 and finished in 9th place.
Cleary did not earn a team score in the men's meet.
In the Women's Meet:
- In the shot put, Carlee Beeney threw 10.68m to finish in 10th place
- Kaylie Bash ran a 10.08 in the 60m hurdles to finish in 13th
- Lauren Gores ran a 5:26.17 in the 1 mile and finished in 5th place, earning CU 4 team points
- Kaylie Bash finished in 17th in the 400m with a time of 1:07.37
- Lauren Gores finished in 9th in the 800m after running 2:35.25
- Kaylie Bash ran a 28.45 in the 200m and finished in 23rd
Cleary earned 4 points in the women's meet, and finished in 9th place.
Also announced at the meet were the all-conference award recipients, and multiple Cougars were recognized. Being named to the Champions of Character team were Christian Hammond and Amelia Jason, for best representing the NAIA's core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, servant leadership, and sportsmanship.
The following student-athletes made the All-Academic team, for being a sophomore or higher with at least a 3.25 GPA:
