D3 Hockey Swept by LTU
(Howell, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar ACHA D3 hockey team returned to action with a two-game series vs. the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils Friday and Saturday.
In Game 1 vs. LTU: The Blue Devils opened up the scoring in the 1st period, taking a commanding 3-0 lead through the first 20 minutes. Cleary would get on the board in the 2nd period, when Nowell Snarey scored, with an assist from Logan Porter, to narrow the deficit. Cleary would have their chances through the final 30 minutes, but were unable to capitalize, and the nationally ranked Blue Devils would expand their lead to 6-1 before the game would go final.
TJ Ramsey made 29 saves in relief for the Cougars, while allowing 3 goals.
In Game 2 at LTU: The two teams would trade five goals in the 1st period, with Cleary scoring two goals by Wayne Taiman, with assists from Nowell Snarey and Nick Larose. Lawrence Tech added three more goals in the 2nd period to take a 6-2 lead, and four goals in the 3rd period to make it 10-2. Cleary's Ben Kozar would get one back, as he scored with an assist from Wayne Taiman, to make the final score 10-3.
TJ Ramsey would suffer the defeat in goal.
Cleary drops to 2-13 on the season. The Cougars will be back in action on Friday, February 3, when they travel to Big Rapids to take on the Ferris State Bulldogs
