Player Outlook
Logan is coming to Cleary after finishing his junior hockey career in New York playing out of Brooklyn. He's looking forward to being able to bring his work ethic into the mix and to provide solid contributions to help the team win. He has a never give up attitude and works for everything he gets on the ice and is taking the right steps to make sure he's physically prepared for the next level. Although he's undecided on what he wants to study, he knows Cleary is the perfect school to help mold him into a great business mind and find his career path along the way. Being able to attend school and get a chance to play college hockey were two main draws for Logan in committing to CU. His long term and short term goals are all oriented around team success over personal success and he knows that's the CU mentality. He's ready to take advantage of any opportunity that comes his way.
Coach's Thoughts
I know what we are getting in Logan Porter as a player and a person and I believe he will fit in well. He already has a few buddies joining him next year so I know he will make the transition smoothly. If you ask him what he thinks of himself as a player, it mostly revolves around hard work and willingness to battle in all areas of the ice. I'd say that's a good match for our culture and what we've got building over here. I can see him killing penalties and being a trusted defensive zone player. We have wanted to create depth in both of those areas to free up some other players to get involved on the offensive end a bit more and we couldn't be happier adding Logan to that mix. He knows nothing will be given to him, that he will have to work to earn every inch and I think that excites him. I know he's bought in to putting in the work this offseason to be ready to go come September, that's step 1 so we are off to a great start.
We asked Logan what brought him to Cleary and this is what he had to say:
"The small town, inclusive feel as well as the chance to play college hockey at a high level."
We are excited to see #21 on the ice come the fall and hope his work ethic is contagious. Please look for our next player profile release, and Go Cougars!
