Player Outlook
Giuseppe was the second recruit to commit this past February and it was due in large part to the
amount of conversation and communication he had with the coaching staff. He felt comfortable
and also that it was a good indicator of what would lie ahead of him in his collegiate career at
Cleary. Once his junior season ended, he set his sights on improving and getting stronger
throughout the offseason. He hopes that the extra work will allow him to take advantage of any
opportunities he’s given once the season starts.
In his first season as a Cougar, Giuseppe plans on bringing a strong and steady approach to the
defensive side of the game. He hopes to be able to prove himself as not only a good teammate
but also a good leader both on and off the ice. Hard work is not something he’s afraid of and he
knows there will be plenty of it in his near future to ensure he accomplishes the goals he has set
for himself.
Coach’s Thoughts
It’s usually a great sign for me when I am talking to a recruit and the part of the game they are
most excited about is penalty killing and blocking shots. We are building a culture in our third
season and that culture is heavily dependent on great work ethic and willingly sacrificing for
your teammates. Everyone that I have talked to about Giusseppe has told me how hard he
works and how much of a team first kind of guy that he is. Adding that kind of character is going
to go a long way in being able to build a winning and successful program.
As we’ve discussed previously, the defensive side of the puck was the biggest area we needed
to target for this upcoming class. Giuseppe will have the opportunity to step in and be a
counted on defensive minded d-man, I also think he has some offensive instincts that will show
as he gets comfortable. We are looking forward to seeing the results of the work he will be
putting in this offseason and coming into the start of our season.
When Giuseppe was asked what he will bring to the team in his first season, here was his
response:
“I can bring a strong defensive presence on the ice and am willing to sacrifice my body to block
any shot.”
The good news for his parents is he’s no longer able to wear a visor, the cage should help keep
his teeth where they belong.
