Men's Golf Posts Lowest Team Round of the Season at Cardinal Classic
(Ypsilanti, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar men's golf team fired their lowest 18-hole round of the season to climb the day 2 leaderboard and finish in a tie 5th place at the Concordia Cardinal Classic Invitational at Washtenaw Golf Club this week.
After dealing with difficult conditions and playing 36-holes on Monday, Cleary had three golfers shoot within one stroke of even par to post the lowest team round of the day.
- Dylan Sokol shot a 3-round total of 79-81-71 to shoot 231 and finished in a tie for 11th place overall. The 71 (-1) was only one of two individual rounds under par on the second day
- Logan Smith and Cam Thomas each shot 237 over 3-rounds to finish in a tie for 20th place. Smith's rounds were 84-80-73, while Thomas' rounds were 83-82-72
- Basile Malempre was consistent for all three rounds, and shot a 79-79-81 to finish in a tie for 24th place
- Connor Stiles rounded out the scoring with rounds of 86-89-81 to finish in 42nd place
As a team, Cleary shot 944 (325-322-297) to earn a tie for 5th place overall.
The Cougars will next be in action on Wednesday, September 21, when they play in the Aquinas Fall Invitational at Kauffman Golf Course in Wyoming, Michigan.
