Esports Weekly Recap: Week of February 16
(Howell, MI)-- Here is the recap for Cleary Esports for action during the week of February 9:
On Monday, Overwatch played Kettering in NACE play- dropping 0-3. It was an incredibly close series despite the score, and the Cougars had their chances to win map one if not for some late adjustments.
On Tuesday, Overwatch played against Illinois Wesleyan, a team at the top of the GLEC for Overwatch, which made quick work of our squad with a score of 0-3. Then, Rocket League played against Wittenberg, who we made quick work of, with a score of 3-1. Team MVP Colin Jetten had a great game and at times singlehandedly was able to weave through Wittenberg to take the ball to the goal.
On Wednesday, Valorant had a doubleheader against National Top 30 team Conestoga followed by a key WHAC tilt against Aquinas- Valorant was able to make Conestoga slightly uncomfortable at times but still dropped the series 0-2 (4-13, 0-13), before moving on to Aquinas- where in a back and forth series we unfortunately fell 1-2 (9-13, 13-8, 4-13). The guys are eager to get back into the lab this week and get better, because we all know that was one we let get away from us. COD also played on Wednesday, where they took on Southeastern Illinois College and Radford in Swiss play, falling to SIC 1-3 but defeating Radford 3-0 to go 1-1.
On Friday, Rocket League matched up against Illinois Wesleyan to attempt to get revenge from the Overwatch team’s bout from earlier in the week- but unfortunately fell 1-4. After a close first two games, IWU was able to pull away later in the series.
