Esports Weekly Recap: Week of February 23
(Howell, MI)-- Here is the recap for Cleary Esports action for the week of February 23:
On Monday, Overwatch took on Otterbein in NACE play- gliding to a 3-0 victory. Darius Webb was our team MVP for the game- I felt like he did a really good job playing second fiddle to Jordan Rivera. Overall a breath of fresh air from our team, which has had some speed bumps throughout the season.
On Tuesday, Rocket League had a doubleheader against Messiah and Ohio Wesleyan, dropping both games with a score of 1-3. Both games were winnable, but our Rocket League team continues to have growing pains.
On Wednesday, Valorant played against WHAC conference favorites- except in NACE play instead of WHAC play. A good warmup for our WHAC match later this month, we were able to push LTU to the brink on our map pick, dropping the series 0-2, but with map scores of 5-13 and 11-13. We come out of that match energized about our odds of upsetting LTU when we play them this month. Call of Duty went 1-1 in Round Robin play on Wednesday as well, taking game 1 via forfeit before dropping game 2 against Ball State with a score of 1-2.
Thursday, Valorant matched up against Saint Xavier in WHAC play- taking the series in close fashion, 2-1 (13-10, 3-13, 13-11). We played down to our competition, but a win is a win- and it pushes us to 2-2 in WHAC play- with three games remaining in our conference schedule. Timothy Whitson was our team MVP, putting up an impressive 27 kill performance in map one.
Friday, Overwatch had a doubleheader against Ohio Wesleyan and Saint Xavier- in which they unfortunately dropped both in 0-3 contests.
