Baseball Takes Both Games from Lawrence Tech

(Utica, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar baseball team played a doubleheader against Lawrence Tech. They were able to sweep Day 1 of games, defeating the Blue Devils 13-3 and 4-3.
In Game 1: Cleary was able to quickly get on the board at the top of the first inning. Brice Wesley would hit a single to score the first run. A quick second inning with zero runs from both teams allowed for a loud third inning. Brendan Seman would hit a home run to add another run to Cleary's score. Another hitless inning for Lawrence Tech would lead to the second home run of the game from Brendan Seman. Landon Kempainen would also hit a double in the top of the fourth. At the top of the fifth was the pinnacle moment for Cleary's win, as they were able to earn six runs in this inning to solidify their win.
Brendan Seman would gain the win in Game 1, pitching 5.2 innings.
In Game 2: With a quick first inning, Lawrence Tech was able to get on the board first at the bottom of the second inning. Cleary was unable to respond in the third, giving up another run to LTU. A scoreless fourth and fifth inning for the Cougars, LTU was able to get a third run on the board in the fifth inning. After a quick sixth and seventh inning, Cleary snagged 4 runs off of the eighth inning. Landon Kempainen would hit a three-run go-ahead home run, giving Cleary the lead for good.
Brody Fay would take the win, while Josh Lucier picked up the save in Game 2.
