(Rio Grande, OH)-- The Cleary Cougar baseball team played a doubleheader once more with the Red Storm of Rio Grande. The Cougars faced defeat in both games this Tuesday.
In Game 1: In a quick first inning, Dylan Cambron would hit a single in the second to gain the Cougars' first run of the game. With a scoreless third inning, the Cougars were dry at the plate while the Red Storm gained 2 runs. Moving to the fifth inning, Brendan Seman and Brice Wesley would both score. Rio Grande would respond with 3 at the bottom of the fifth. Rio Grande had another run in the sixth inning, and the Cougars could not respond at the top of the seventh.
Brody Fay would start the game with three innings, and Nolan Green would suffer the loss of Game 1. The Game ended up 7-3 in favor of Rio Grande.
In Game 2: Cleary would be scoreless to begin the first inning of the second game. Rio Grande would respond right away with 2 runs to end the first. With a scoreless second and third innings, Cleary would get on the board in the fourth inning. Brodie Mackay would hit a single and score the run off of Joey Parinello's double and Jake VanderHaar's single. The Cougars were able to shut out Rio Grande in the bottom of the fourth and fifth. In the sixth, Rio Grande was able to take control with 4 runs to complete the game. In the final change for the Cougars, they were unable to respond, finishing the loss at 6-1.
Parker Davis would suffer the loss in Game 2.
Cleary will be back in action on April 3rd as they travel to Utica, MI to take on the Blue Devils of Lawrence Tech for two days of WHAC conference play.
