UMD's Barrett, Cleary's Meyering Earn Weekly Hockey Awards

The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has announced its Men's Hockey Player of the Week Awards, presented by Tarkett Sports Construction, earlier today. Student-athletes are nominated by their host institutions' sports information department and selected via a vote by conference SID's.

This week, SID's have chosen UM-Dearborn's Will Barrett as the Offensive Player of the Week and Cleary's Nick Meyering as the Defensive Player of the Week. This is the second time this season the two have earned these awards in the same week with the other coming on 10/6.

Barrett led the Wolverines to a weekend split with Lawrence Tech with five points on three goals and two assists. He had a goal and an assist in a 5-3 loss and two goals in a 5-4 win. 

Meyering suffered his first loss of the season on Friday evening, allowing two goals with 28 saves, but quickly bounced back on Saturday for a his 9th win of the season. In the winning effort, the senior made 34 saves on 37 shots faced and finished the weekend with a .925 save percentage.
