(Farmington Hills, MI)-- The Cleary Cougar ACHA hockey team scored in the second period, holding a lead for forty seven minutes, but the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils mounted a comeback to take game one of the weekend series Friday night in Farmington Hills.
After a scoreless first period, Levi Herauf scored halfway through the second period, with assists from Zach Eakes and Erik Wafer, to give Cleary a 1-0 lead. That lead would disappear in the third period, when the Blue Devils scored twice in a two minute span, after multiple Cougar penalties, including a 5-minute major penalty, resulted in a pair of goals for the hosts. Those two goals would be enough as Cleary would be unable to find the back of the net down the stretch.
Tyler Krasofsky would suffer the loss in between the pipes for Cleary. The two teams combined for 61 penalty minutes in the game.
Cleary drops to 6-13 overall, 4-9 in the WHAC. The rubber match will be on Saturday, December 2, when Cleary hosts Lawrence Tech at 140 Ice Den. The game is scheduled to start at 5:30 PM.
