Bio
Cleary University announced the hiring of Greg Barner as Head Wrestling Coach and Strength and Conditoning Coordinator in June 2020. Barner has an extensive coaching background having just recently finishing as assistant coach at Concordia University in Minnesota.
Beginning his career coaching two D3 All-Americans and five Scholar All-Americans at Concordia-Moorhead College, Coach Barner would transition one year later to Simpson College, where he helped triple the roster size in two years, coached two Scholar All-Americans and three All-Team Conference Wrestlers and worked to produce the team's first Top Ten Nationally Ranked Wrestler in 13 years.
From there, Barner would move to Briar Cliff University, where he would coach two NAIA All-Americans and eight National Qualifiers.
His work would advance to the head coach position at Northeastern Junior College, where he started a brand new JUCO program that produced one JUCO All-American, three National Qualifiers, seven Scholar All-Americans and a team that finished 23rd in the nation.
Barner is married to his wife Cassidy and enjoys the company of his two dogs, Mia (a German Shepherd/Husky) and Maverick (a Maltese/Yorkie).
